Group Farm Field Volunteering at WFCF

Waltham Fields Community Farm

Description

WFCF hosts groups in 3-hour shifts during the growing season, mid-April through October. The work varies according to what the farmer needs to get done for that day, but is likely to include weeding, transplanting, or special projects in the farm fields. Volunteers should expect to be outdoors the whole time and dress accordingly. No experience needed, WFCF will show you what to do.

More information and a calendar with potential availability can be found here:

http://communityfarms.org/involved/volunteer-service

Please choose a few dates and times that may work for you and email volunteer@communityfarms.org

Shifts are 9:15 am-noon or 1:15-4:00 pm. Groups are a minimum of 6 and maximum of 18 people, but larger groups can be accommodated, as well.

With your volunteer help, WFCF will be able to grow significantly more food than they would otherwise be able to do with just their staff. It really makes a difference for all of their food programs, such as their low-income Mobile Outreach Market, Veggie Rx Produce Prescription Program, and donations of tons of vegetables annually to food banks and food pantries.
