The People for Riverbend Park Trust is seeking a new volunteer Board Treasurer.
Position Summary:
The Treasurer is a key officer of the Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization’s financial oversight and management. In the absence of staff, the Treasurer plays an active, hands-on role in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and compliance. This role ensures the organization remains financially sound, transparent, and in good standing with legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using bookkeeping software or spreadsheets
Prepare an annual financial report for the board
Develop and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with the board president
Track income and expenses; reconcile bank accounts regularly
Process payments, deposits, and reimbursements
Ensure compliance with state and federal nonprofit regulations, including tax filings (e.g., IRS Form 990-N or 990-EZ)
Oversee and manage financial documents, such as donation records and receipts
Support fundraising by tracking designated funds and budgets
Advise the board on financial strategy and sustainability
Facilitate or lead the annual financial review or audit, if applicable

Qualifications:
Familiarity with bookkeeping, accounting, or nonprofit financial management
Familiarity with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Wave) or proficiency with spreadsheets
Understanding of nonprofit financial practices and reporting requirements (or willingness to learn)
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and integrity
Ability to communicate financial concepts to board members with varying levels of financial literacy
Time Commitment:
Approximately 4–6 hours per month
Availability for periodic check-ins or special tasks (e.g., tax season, grant reporting)
