Description
Become a volunteer to support Furnishing Hope’s 2026 Home Goods Drive!
April 6 - May 4
Furnishing Hope provides furniture and essential home goods to families transitioning out of homeless and domestic violence shelters. Their Home Goods Drive is one of their most important events of the year to help stock up on new and gently used home good donations. They are looking for volunteers to get involved in the following ways:
Become a Captain: Drive Captains reach out to 3 or more friends, family members, neighbors, coworkers, or other community connections to share Furnishing Hope’s mission and request donations of items for the 2026 Home Goods Drive. They then collect donations from those who respond, serving as a temporary drop off point for their network, before dropping off all donations to the office in Harvard Square. (flexible time commitment)
Become a Sorter: Sorter volunteer shifts are 2 hours each and take place in person at their office in Harvard Square. During each shift you can expect to work with Furnishing Hope staff and other volunteers to carefully sort through donated items, assess whether they meet Furnishing Hope’s standards, inventory them, and place them in their designated areas. (Dates TBD in April and May).
Become a Chauffeur: Chauffeurs help by picking up donations from locations across the Greater Boston area and delivering them to the office in Harvard Square during the Home Goods Drive. These volunteers must have access to a car and be comfortable lifting and transporting boxes of home goods. (flexible time commitment)
