One of the largest nonprofits in the nation, the Salvation Army is a faith-based, multi-service organization that strives to meet human needs through everything from disaster relief to after-school programs. Despite its religious affiliation, the Salvation Army emphasizes serving anyone in need, regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. Local programs include Our Place, a daycare center for children experiencing homelessness; meal programs (to-go and on-site); a men’s shelter; and teen programs.
Volunteer activities have included:
