On the Rise

About

On the Rise serves women and trans/nonbinary individuals experiencing homelessness or poverty by providing a safe haven where guests can find daily essentials/resources, weekly health assessments, safety, and a supportive, non-judgemental community.

Operating from the principle that healing stems from dependable relationships, On the Rise meets its participants where they are, and works to support them even if they would not fit the requirements of other programs. The Safe Haven also provides opportunities to take a break from crisis and engage in activities that focus on individual strengths and wellbeing, like writing groups, art groups, and community outings. Once a client has found permanent housing, On the Rise continues to support them through their Keep the Keys program, which provides move-in support, emergency funds, support groups, and general advocacy.

Volunteer activities have included:

  • Preparing drop-off lunches, meals, and snacks

  • Hosting a donation drive

  • Service Days, e.g. organizing the space on weekends
