Y2Y welcomes volunteers from the general public -- individuals and groups -- to take a weekly morning, evening, or overnight shift and/or occasional one-time substitutions -- the latter, especially during Harvard University holidays. 

Summer 2026: Y2Y is accepting community volunteers that commit to weekly shifts. Volunteers typically commit to a single weekly shift, though volunteers can commit to more than one shift per week this summer if desired.

Volunteers help with preparing and distributing meals; cleaning, laundry, or other maintenance; picking up donations of food or other goods from nearby vendors; addressing guests’ needs as they arise; or other tasks as needed.

Teen volunteering:

Volunteers 12-14 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and stay in the kitchen at all times. 

Volunteers 15-17 years old must have parent/guardian signature.
