Swim Freedom offers swimming classes at the Central YMCA and needs Water Watchers to help at their classes!

Where: Central Square YMCA 820 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, MA.

Class times: Tuesdays 4:15pm – 5:00pm, September 15 – October 30, 2026 AND November 3 – December 15, 2026

Water watcher responsibilities:

• Keep all children within your sight at all times.

• Keep Swim Freedom updated with attendance and class updates.

• Volunteers must arrive on time 5 minutes before the class starts and depart the YMCA after all of the childen get out of the pool.

All classes have instructors and life guards in addition to Water Watchers. Having an additional volunteer watching the class is important to ensure a safe learning environment for all swimmers and keep Swim Freedom informed.

Before volunteering you will need to take an online Red Cross Water Safety Ambassador class (45 minutes long). This course is free and issues certification.
