VITA Tax Prep Volunteers

Just A Start

Description

Primary Tasks:
As a volunteer in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, you’ll provide free tax preparation services to low- to moderate-income individuals and families. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and filing basic tax returns

  • Assisting taxpayers with questions regarding tax credits and deductions

  • Reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness

  • Ensuring confidentiality and security of client information

  • Collaborating with the VITA team to provide the best service possible

No prior tax preparation experience is required—Just A Start will provide all the necessary training!

 

Time Commitment:

  • Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 3-5 hours per week during the tax season (Feb. 1st through April 15th).

  • Flexible shifts are available, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate your schedule.

Requirements/Restrictions:

  • Must complete IRS-provided training and pass certification exams (all training is provided for free).

  • Basic computer skills and attention to detail are important.

  • Volunteers must be comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
