Description
Primary Tasks:
As a volunteer in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, you’ll provide free tax preparation services to low- to moderate-income individuals and families. Your main responsibilities will include:
Preparing and filing basic tax returns
Assisting taxpayers with questions regarding tax credits and deductions
Reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness
Ensuring confidentiality and security of client information
Collaborating with the VITA team to provide the best service possible
No prior tax preparation experience is required—Just A Start will provide all the necessary training!
Time Commitment:
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 3-5 hours per week during the tax season (Feb. 1st through April 15th).
Flexible shifts are available, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate your schedule.
Requirements/Restrictions:
Must complete IRS-provided training and pass certification exams (all training is provided for free).
Basic computer skills and attention to detail are important.
Volunteers must be comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Must be at least 18 years old.
