About

As one of the oldest women’s organizations in the nation, YWCA is a vital multi-service organization for women, families, and youth who are rebounding from crisis and an advocate for policy changes that will support their success. With 103 single-room units and a 10-unit emergency family shelter, in addition to programs that build self-reliance, health, and youth leadership, YWCA Cambridge offers the resources and support necessary to feel safe and empowered. Volunteers may get involved on an as-needed or regular basis.


Volunteer activities have included:

  • Teaching/tutoring/mentoring in various hobbies or life skills courses

  • Translating and interpreting in Spanish, Mandarin, and Haitian Creole

  • Helping out with reception, events, and other key administrative work

  • Assisting with the residence programs

  • Delivering food and local donations to the Tanner Residence and Family Shelter

  • Mentoring youth for Gold and Gender Expansive Youth Programs
