About
With women making up less than 29% of the STEM workforce, and Black and Latina women at less than 4% of scientists and engineers, Science Club for Girls addresses a critical need.
SCFG believes in making a long-term investment in a young person's STEM education. They understand that tackling the systemic causes of diversity gaps in STEM requires dedication, and they're committed to moving the needle toward a more inclusive STEM ecosystem. The impact of this investment is evident in the trajectories of SCFG alumni, and the benefits are shared by all of society.
SCFG's continuum of engaging STEM activities spans K-12, including junior mentoring and leadership experiences for high school participants. Adult mentoring and role modeling is facilitated by volunteers studying STEM disciplines in higher education and working in STEM careers.
SCFG envisions a STEM ecosystem populated by robust numbers of diverse women who help innovate solutions to the most pressing issues of our time—from climate change to cybersecurity to global pandemics—while reaping the profound economic benefits of careers in STEM.
Science Club for Girls (SCFG) fosters excitement, confidence, and literacy in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for girls and gender-expansive youth from underrepresented communities by providing free, experiential programs and by maximizing meaningful interactions with women-in-STEM mentors.
