Applied Learning inspires learners through the thrill of discovery, fundamentally changing the way students engage with content, the way teachers engage with students, and the way that students work with one another. Applied Learning is the next instructional leap.

This work is done by finding and growing the best-in-class programs, working side by side with educators and leaders, and creating opportunities for meaningful interactions with industry professionals – this is where you come in!

Students should be able to answer the eternal question of “Why am I learning this?” Connecting with industry professionals is a missing link to bringing learning alive to demonstrate how what is learned in the classroom is used to solve real world problems, One8 Applied Learning Hub provides skills-based volunteer opportunities for professionals looking to inspire the next generation of leaders.

Volunteer activities have included:

• Applied Learning Student Showcase| Engage with students to review their applied learning projects, provide feedback, and share your experience as an industry professional.

• Student Industry Connects | Students submit their Applied Learning projects online for advice and insight from industry professionals to make their work better. Each volunteer writes notes and encouraging feedback for 6-10 projects.

• Capstone Team Mentorship | Be matched with student teams based on your area of expertise. Engage with students virtually or in-person to review and provide valuable guidance and feedback on their projects.

The One8 Foundation believes that an outstanding education should be available to all, regardless of zip code. One8 Applied Learning Hub is the implementation team within the One8 Foundation that supports schools in high-quality implementation of proven Applied Learning programs.
