About
Next Step is a Cambridge-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth and young adults living with chronic illnesses. Their mission is to help participants build confidence, resilience, and life skills through engaging programs that promote wellness, creativity, and connection.
Next Step offers a variety of programs, with their main offerings focused on Campference, Mentoring, and Music Therapy.
The Campference program brings young people together for immersive experiences focused on personal growth, leadership, and community-building. Participants have the opportunity to explore new skills, form lasting friendships, and develop strategies to navigate the challenges of living with chronic illness in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Through the Mentoring program, participants are paired with trained mentors who provide one-on-one guidance, support, and encouragement. These relationships help participants set and achieve personal goals, gain confidence, and build a sense of accountability as they navigate school, career, and wellness journeys.
The Music Therapy program and Songbook initiative allows participants to explore creativity and self-expression through songwriting, recording, and performance. Music provides a platform to process experiences, connect with peers, and celebrate accomplishments in a fun and meaningful way.
Together, these programs create a holistic network of support that helps young people with chronic illnesses thrive, fostering personal growth, resilience, and community connection.
