Helping Hand Food Pantry

About

The Helping Hand Food Pantry operates on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, located at 1991 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge (2 blocks from Porter Square). The Helping Hand Food Pantry offers a wide variety of fresh, frozen, and packaged grocery items, household cleaning products, and sanitary products, to those in need.


On Fridays, volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. to unload deliveries from The Greater Boston Food Bank via Food For Free and other food providers. On Saturdays, volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to prepare and distribute groceries.


Volunteer activities have included:

  • Unloading deliveries

  • Preparing/distributing groceries

  • Picking up supplies in Boston
