Harvard Museums of Science and Culture

About

The Harvard Museums of Science & Culture (HMSC) cultivate inspiration and curiosity in the natural world, science, and human cultures. HMSC museums include the Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments, Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East, Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, and the Harvard Museum of Natural History, including the world-renowned Glass Flowers collection.

Volunteers provide critical support for the visitor experience, whether it be welcoming guests, engaging visitors with hands-on activities, or participating in HMSC festivals and programs. HMSC volunteers do not work with collections or behind-the-scenes with the research museums.

Volunteer activities have included:

  • Facilitating hands-on educational activities

  • Inviting visitors to draw gallery collections

  • Greeting visitors

  • Reading storybooks to families with children

  • Promoting events/programs
