Cambridge Jazz Festival and Foundation

About

Every summer, the Cambridge Jazz Festival inspires, entertains, and educates Cambridge about the unique American art of jazz. Festival-goers can expect a weekend full of live music covering a wide swath of the jazz spectrum in one of the city's accessible and beautiful open spaces (e.g. Danehy Park). Volunteers help the festival run smoothly by setting up the event, greeting and registering guests, and fulfilling other support and management roles. Popular food vendors are there for the day, and offer Jazz Fest volunteers free food vouchers.

The festival is produced by the Cambridge Jazz Foundation, which also organizes other periodic jazz events.

Volunteer activities have included:

  • Setting up/taking down the festival

  • Assisting with registration, membership, a Jazz Museum tent, and more

  • Entertaining children in the Kids’ Tent

  • Managing/coordinating other volunteers (experience preferred)

  • Providing skilled medical assistance/first aid (certification required)

  • Coordinating equipment distribution (operations experience preferred)

  • Putting together videos of jazz performers for the Online Jazz Museum Project (long-term)

  • Communications/fundraising/social media management (long-term)
