Description
Drop-In Volunteers provide essential support to women from the community, who are often vulnerable, housing-insecure, socially isolated, and low-income.
Shifts take place during Cambridge Women's Center's drop-in hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 12-7pm. There is especially high need for BIPOC and bilingual volunteers whose personal experiences relate to CWC members' lives.
Volunteer activites may include:
Setting up and breaking down before and after each shift
Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the space
Coordinating food deliveries and distribution for the drop-in fridge and other food services
Distributing material support supplies
Offering social/emotional support
Providing referrals to a resource database with information on health, legal, housing, and other services; a lending library; and common spaces for relaxation and conversation
Weekday closing (4:00 - 7:00 pm) and mid-shifts (2:15 - 4:00 pm) especially needed!
Holiday Need: Mid-November and December volunteer needs grow - the CWC tends to lose a lot of their regular volunteers due to the holiday break.
