Individual Achievement Program (IAP) Tutors

Rian Immigrant Center

Description

Rian Immigrant Center is currently recruiting new Individual Achievement Program (IAP) tutors to support their immigrant student community with one-to-one coaching to achieve short-term and long-term career and education goals. Volunteers may help students with such tasks as preparing a resume, applying to jobs, preparing for job interviews, exploring job training programs, and exploring continuing education opportunities like taking the HiSET/GED or TABE test or enrolling in higher education.

IAP tutors are NOT required to be native English language speakers or US citizens. It is preferable that they are familiar with the language learning process and/or the experience of living in a foreign culture or within 2+ cultures simultaneously, as this promotes empathy for students’ lived experience.

Volunteers are expected to commit to at least one hour per week, during or after business hours, but flexible schedules are welcome (hours negotiable).

Apply online at https://www.riancenter.org/volunteer-application/, or email volunteering@riancenter.org for more information.
