Annual Nutrition Relief Events Volunteers

Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES)

Description

Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) relies on volunteers to support several of their nutrition relief events:


  • Deliver fresh farm produce supplied by New Entry Food Hub to older adult residents of Somerville and Cambridge. Personal vehicle required. One date in July, annually.

  • Help distribute voucher booklets that older adults can use to buy produce at local farmer's markets. Shifts take place over one week in July, at locations such as the SCES office, a senior center, or a senior housing building. Training is provided, and volunteer shifts are typically 1.5- 2 hours.

  • Deliver prepared Thanksgiving meals to older Somerville and Cambridge residents on Thanksgiving morning, annually.
