Volunteer Monthly Monitors

Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA)

Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA)

Volunteers who enjoy early mornings on the Charles River are needed to collect samples, record water temperature and depth, and record river conditions once a month at 6 am. The consistent work of volunteer river monitors provides crucial data to help CRWA study, advocate for, and maintain the health of the river and its inhabitants.

All volunteers are fully trained by CRWA staff, and all equipment is provided. While volunteers may request testing sites, they may be put on a waiting list for sites that are currently filled. CRWA asks that volunteers commit to at least one year. Regional volunteers are also needed to fill in at different testing sites. Additionally, CRWA seeks volunteer coordinators who will collect and deliver all water samples from various sites to the lab. For all volunteer positions, access to a car is necessary.

Please contact charles@crwa.org or (617) 540-5650 for more details.
