Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC)
Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) seeks Sexual Violence Hotline volunteers to provide crisis counseling and support to sexual violence survivors and their significant others over the phone or online via web chat. This work can be done remotely -- phone hotline volunteers must have access to a landline or cellphone in a private, secure location to take calls; web chat hotline volunteers must have access to a computer with stable internet access, or have the ability to travel to BARCC's Waltham or Boston locations.
Volunteers must be able to commit to at least one weekly five-hour shift at any time of day (shifts are available 24 hours a day), as well as two 1.5-hour peer supervision meetings each month. A 40-hour training and buddy shift are required before starting.
BARCC is looking for volunteers of all genders. Spanish-English bilingual applicants are especially welcome. Please contact volunteer@barcc.org or (617) 649-1273 to learn more.
