Prison Support Group Facilitator

Parents Helping Parents

Parents Helping Parents

Volunteers facilitate weekly support groups in prisons and jails in the Greater Boston Area. The goal of these groups is to create a safe space where group members share experiences about parenting and learn to cope with things they cannot change no matter where they are on the parenting journey.

Group facilitators do not need to be experts in parenting and will not be working from a curriculum. Facilitators do need to be able to work across differences and demonstrate an aptitude for active listening and navigating challenging behaviors in group settings. Please note that all facilitators must complete Department of Corrections training at the facility where they volunteer, as well as PHP group training. All facilitators must also pass a CORI check.
