Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) is seeking volunteers with flexible availability to support their Community Awareness and Prevention Services programming. Volunteers dedicate 4-6 hours each month to community outreach such as distributing BARCC materials, talking with community members at info tables, and facilitating Survivor Speakers Bureau discussions. Experienced volunteers also deliver awareness and prevention workshops to various audiences in the Boston area.
A 40-hour training in crisis intervention skills, as well as additional training on facilitation skills and the BARCC curriculum, are required before starting. Volunteers are also required to attend twice-monthly peer supervision meetings, held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 6:30 to 8:00pm.
