Pod Patrol Volunteers

In line with Fresh Pond Reservation's efforts to rid Cambridge of invasive species, "Pod Patrol" volunteers learn to identify and root out invasive Black Swallow-Wort plants. Black Swallow-Wort spreads rapidly and displaces vital native plants, including milkweed plants essential to the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly. Volunteers are encouraged to "spread the word, not the weed," and raise awareness in their neighborhoods about the scourge of Black Swallow-Wort and other invasives.
