On-Farm Harvester

Boston Area Gleaners

Boston Area Gleaners

From July through December, Boston Area Gleaners (BAG) volunteers harvest, pack, and/or distribute tons (over 8 million pounds distributed in 2020) of surplus produce that would otherwise go to waste, from farms throughout eastern MA. Rescued produce reaches over 2000 food banks, pantries, and meal programs where fresh vegetables and fruits are often scarce commodities. Trips are held on weekdays and weekends and normally last 2-3 hours, excluding travel time. Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age, and, if under 18, must be accompanied by an adult. Training, gloves, and tools are provided. To be apprised of upcoming trips, volunteers must first register online with Boston Area Gleaners. Contact outreach@bostonareagleaners.org or (781) 819-0116 for more info.
