Invasive Plant Removal Volunteer
Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA)
Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA)
CRWA seeks volunteers to help remove invasive plant species from the Charles River Watershed. Participants can either pull water chestnut plants out of the water from a canoe, or they can remove bittersweet vines from trees within the forests and woods of the watershed. Water chestnut removal occurs in the summer months, from late June through August; groups of up to 20 volunteers are welcome. Bittersweet removal occurs from mid May to mid June, and again from late August to mid October; groups of up to 30 volunteers are welcome. Typically, shifts last about 3 hours.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis. To learn more and sign up, please visit https://www.crwa.org/invasive-species/#invasive-volunteer. You may also email charles@crwa.org or call (617) 540-5650 with any questions.
Removing plants also works well as a team building event! Several sponsorship tiers are available for corporate groups seeking to make an impact with a donation and group service day. To learn more, please contact Emily Reiling, Development Manager, at ereiling@crwa.org.
