Incarcerated Survivor Hotline Volunteer
Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC)
Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC)
Incarcerated Survivor Support Program (ISSP) hotline volunteers provide crisis counseling and related support over the phone to survivors of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse who are incarcerated.
Volunteers must be able to commit to at least one weekly four-hour shift between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., as well as two 1.5-hour peer supervision meetings each month. While volunteers must live in Massachusetts, this work can be done remotely — volunteers need to take phone calls in a private, secure location. A CORI check and 40-hour training before starting are required.
BARCC is looking for volunteers of all genders. Spanish-English bilingual applicants are especially welcome. Please contact volunteer@barcc.org or (617) 492-8306 to learn more.
