Elementary Math and Literacy Volunteers

Cambridge School Volunteers

Cambridge School Volunteers

There are a variety of opportunities for math and literacy volunteers at the elementary

level:

Classroom volunteers meet with students once a week under the supervision of a

teacher, either in small groups or one-to-one, to develop and improve students' basic

math or literacy skills. Volunteers help students stay on task, facilitate discussions,

and/or provide academic support for students during the school year.

Scratch volunteers conduct and coach sessions for 4th-grade classrooms using

Scratch – a visual programming tool – one or more mornings a week.

FMA Pacesetters volunteers bring their own special interests and talents, whether in

STEM, art, sports, games, or other fields — or just a hefty dose of understanding of the

developmental and social needs of children — to a group of grade 2–5 students after

school at Fletcher-Maynard Academy.
