The Somerville Community Growing Center is a community green space that uses its rich outdoor programming, including environmental education and cultural performances, to create a space dedicated to engaging with nature while strengthening community bonds. The green space is a reclaimed urban lot that is now fully landscaped with seed-grown native plants, which are also grown for periodic public sales. Volunteer Orientations are held on the second Saturday and fourth Tuesday of each month.

Volunteer activities have included:

• Watering/gardening/maintaining the site

• Fundraising

• Community outreach

• Creating educational programming/events

• Hosting Open Hours or events

• Assisting the Children in Nature Initiative

• Working on the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee
