Fresh Pond Reservation

About

Fresh Pond Reservation maintains the parkland and waters of Fresh Pond Reservoir, which is “a vital part of the drinking water supply system for the City of Cambridge.” With the help of volunteers, FPR works outdoors to remove invasive species, restore habitats, collect data and conduct research, and maintain the quality of the water. FPR also develops tours and educational programming for the general public including their annual Fresh Pond Day celebration.

At this time, FPR can only accept volunteer groups. Groups with 10+ members available for more than two hours are encouraged to reach out to FPR directly via the ranger email listed on the volunteer page. FPR looks forward to welcoming individual volunteers again in the future.

Volunteer activities have included:

  • Gardening and weeding

  • Invasive plant removal

  • Trail maintenance

  • Pond maintenance
