About

Established in 1979, Community Dispute Settlement Center (CDSC) is a mediation and training center focused on justice, dignity, and community. 


CDSC provides a wide range of services to support the peaceful resolution of conflict, including but not limited to:

  •  Free/sliding scale mediation services in the community and in local courts

  • Conflict coaching to disputants who are unable to complete a full mediation (for example, when the other party will not participate in mediation)

  • Conflict skills workshops to a wide variety of groups, to enable them to diffuse volatile situations and to better manage disagreements

  • Peer mediation programs in schools and youth programs, including training staff and teachers to support young people in resolving differences

CDSC also provides mediator trainings and apprenticeships; mediation to incarcerated people prior to release; and collaborate in a statewide coalition which includes legislative advocacy.


Volunteer activities have included:

  • Becoming a pro bono mediator

  • Planning events

  • Fundraising

  • Board membership
