Community Conversations: Sister to Sister (CCS2S)
About
Community Conversations: Sister to Sister (CCS2S) is a women's health initiative whose mission is to:
1) Remove barriers to improved health outcomes in the Black community by providing a forum for open and honest dialogue between key stakeholders
2) Empower community participants as they navigate the medical system in search for the highest quality care for themselves and their families.
CCS2S live out their mission through community-directed holistic health education conversations with activities and peer support in Simply Erinn’s Hair Salon. As an intergenerational community with attendees ranging from 16-85+, they invest time and resources into leadership development for young people by engaging them in programming and skill-building activities that contribute to their personal and professional development.
CCS2S's mission is to address systemic inequities at the nexus of education and health equity – finding their community’s truth through dialogue. Community leadership is the core truth of their equity model, with shared values made visible in their program delivery model and operations which remain community-led. This active collaboration ensures the highest levels of transparency and accountability, but also meaningful relationships across the health community sister to sister. CCS2S is knitted into the community fabric partnering with Cambridge Community Center, CCHERS, YWCA, and City of Cambridge. Together, we invest in flourishing.
